No other person can keep you motivated than yourself. If you are reading this post hoping that you will find here a solution to your problems at work, you are mistaken. My intention in writing this article is to share with you some tips on how you can keep yourself motivated at work.
#1 Take short breaks for every hour of work.
Taking 10 minute breaks every hour will prevent you from feeling monotonous or getting bored with your job. If you spend a lot of time at your desk or in front of the computer, for instance, you are likely to feel physically drained. To avoid this, make sure you pause for just 10 minutes, which you can use to do some stretching perhaps.
#2 Remind yourself of what you have accomplished.
Being aware of the tasks you have completed is a great way of staying motivated at work. Make a to-do list of all your tasks and be sure to tick off those you have finished already. This makes it easier for you to see how productive you have been.
#3 Read something inspiring.
You may find it embarrassing, but reading inspirational stories has always been an effective way of finding motivation. If you are starting to lose interest in your job, you should find a way to get back your focus and eventually your commitment to your job. This is what motivational stories or articles do.
#4 Keep your workstation organized.
If you allow yourself to be in a messy and disorganized place to work, you will find it really hard to concentrate and be productive. Letting yourself get distracted by the things around you will cause you to waste a lot of time and eventually lose your enthusiasm about your job. Get your things organized and keep your place of work neat so that it would be easier for you to focus on your tasks for the day.
#5 Reward yourself from time to time.
If you think you have had a productive week, then you should allow yourself to indulge in something you really like. Use your weekend to go somewhere you have wanted to visit, or perhaps eat the food you really like. Tell yourself that it’s your reward for working hard the entire week. This way, you will feel gratified and you would naturally want to have another productive week.
#6 Spend quality time with your loved ones.
Finding the balance between your personal and professional life can keep you motivated at work. Like what any life coach would say, there is no point in becoming successful in your career if you have nobody to share it with. Make sure that you still have time to go out to dinners with your family or hang out with your friends after you spend most of your time keeping up with your responsibilities at work.
